Luckmore Joseph

Born in 1979, Luckmore expressed his creative talents in basket weaving and art before he was employed as an assistant by torso sculptor Sydney Majengwa in 1999. In order to ensure he did not replicate his teacher’s work, Luckmore developed his own sculpting style, depicting street beggars and women. Luckmore’s work reflects the humanity of the poor, and comedy and tragedy are integrated into his interpretation of their daily lives. His inspiration for each piece comes from the natural shape of the raw stone.
